People

PART I: Christopher likes the idea of a world with no people in it [p. 2]; he contemplates the end of the world when the universe collapses [pp. 10–11]; Later, he dreams of being an astronaut, alone in space [pp. 50–51] What do these passages say about his relationship to other human beings? What is striking about the way he describes these scenarios?

PART II: In addition to answering the above question, today we discussed how Christopher associated Prime numbers with people's names. What number does your name correlate with? (see page 25 for assistance) Read other students' responses to this part of the question and see if you match up with anyone. Also, indicate whether or not your name is a prime number.

  1. Part I: These passages explain about how Christopher isn't very good with other people. He doesn't do very well socially. Christopher does not like talking to strangers, more than one person talking to him at once, people touching him, people yelling at him, and people giving him hugs. His relationship with other human beings is not very good, other than the relationship he has with his father and Siobhan. What is striking about the way he describes these senarios is that he seems to want to be alone all the time and have no one else ever around him.

Part II: My name (first, middle, and last name together) correlates with the number 217. My number is not a prime number, it is a composite number, because 7 multiplied by 31 is 217. My name's number does not match up with anyone else's yet, because no one else has commented yet! :)<3

  2. Part I: The passaqes explain that Christopher would rather be alone, because he feels more safe that way. When he is interacting with other people, he has to interpret exactly what they are saying, and people have many emotions, which Christopher does not have, and does not understand.Since Christopher finds many people confusing, unless he has really gotten to know them, he says that he would rather be accompanied by animals, especially dogs. He says that he likes dogs because they are easy to understand, and only have four emotions: happy , sad, cross, and concentrating. What is striking about the way he describes these scenarios is that it seems that he would almost rather the world blow up, or to be sent into space alone, while most other people would not enjoy it at all.

Part II: My name correlates with the number 177. My number is not a prime number because 59 multiplied by 3 is 177. My number also doesnt match up with anyone elses yet, like stephanie's
    :)

  3. Part I: These passages show how Christopher would prefer to be alone all the time. And he would like to be an astronaut that was alone in space. Mainly because he doesn't like being around people, talking to strangers, conversations without lots of questions, and so on. He does not have good relationships with humans, because all of their emotions are too overwhelming for him. There are only two people he has good relationships with, they are his father and Siobhan. He would prefer to be around dogs, because they only display four emotions: cross, concentrating, happy, and sad. It is very striking that he would would rather be the only one on the earth, because he does not like being around people. And most other people would not like to be abandoned with no one to talk to.

Part II: My first and last name add up to 109. My name is a prime number, because it's not divisible by any number other than one. So far no one else has my number.

  4. PART I: These passages show how Christopher isn't good socially and would rather be alone because he feel safest that way. He dislikes talking to strangers, people touching him, or having anyone show him emmotion because he dosent understand it.It is stricking that he feels this way about humans because he connects well with his rat and Wellington.

PART II: MY first name and last name add up to 109. It is not divisible by any other number, therefore it is prime. hailey l6 has my same number.

  5. PART I: These passages infer that Christopher would much rather be alone than with people, and he wouldn't mind it at all if he were the only person on earth. He doesn't like interacting with people, for example, he hates physical contact with other people (hugs) and he doesn't even like talking with them. He finds people very confusing, and it takes him weeks to even start talking with someone new, and when he does, he asks them extremely basic questions, such as what their favorite color is.

PART II: My first and last name add up to 152 (at least I hope so...that was a lot of adding) which is not a prime number cuz it is divisible by 2. Fourth post, so nobody matches me.

  6. Part I: These passages say that Christopher’s relationship to other human beings is lacking. He isn’t very social with other people. He prefers to be alone, and he doesn’t like being social. He finds other people difficult to understand, and thinks people don’t make sense. The striking thing about the way he describes these scenarios is that he is really informative and graphic about it. He paints a picture with his words and describes the scene really well, with lots of details.

Part II: My first and last name correlates with the number 103. My name does not match up with anyone else’s because nobody else has my name. xD My name is a prime number because it can only be multiplied by itself.

Part I: Christopher doesn't like people all over him. He doesn't like people touching or hugging him, screaming or yelling at him ect. He seems like if he had a choice he would choose to be alone.

Part II: My 1st and last name equals 167, which makes it a prime number. No one in america has the same name as me so it doesnt match with anyone elses

  8. Part I: In the passages in elucidates that Christopher isn't a very social person. In a way Christopher is confused do to the fact that when people are speaking there very misleading at times, you can't determine which emotion there trying to express. Therefore Christopher just sticks to not socializing at all or just socializing with people whom he's comfortable around like his father and Siobhan. He's like knowing exactly how you’re feeling. So the relationship he holds with human beings is a very strong one due to the way he thinks, and his look on how humans should act. What is striking about the way he set ups the scenarios is that his view on things and life are so different from your “regular” human being. He’s a very literal person, and it’s fascinating to see how different he thinks from humans.

Part II: My name correlates with the number 150. 150 is not a prime number because, when you multiply 6 by 25 you get 150. My number doesn't match with anyone else’s number either.

  9. Part I: These passages say that Christopher definitely struggles with his social skills. He likes to be alone and doesn't like interacting with other people without knowing them. The striking thing about the scenarios are that he makes them quite disturbing. He describes the scenarios with great detail, and accuracy. He talks about how he wants to be alone and not bothered.

Part II: My first and last name came out to be 153. 153 is not prime because it can be divided by 3, which equals 51.So far nobody has my number, but Connor h2 has 152 as his number, pretty close!

  10. His realationship with other human beings is different because most kids like to socialize with each other but, in this case he doesnt. To most kids they find that awkward. autistic kids find that normal, but that is perfectly fine.

My first and last name adds up too 136. My number was not prime.

  11. Part I: When Christopher explains how he loves to be alone, he expresses that he feels safer that way. He explains that when he is alone, there isn't anybody crowding information into his mind. When he's alone, he says, he just thinks for hours and that way he clears his mind and isn't worrying about how many red cars in a row there are, or the number of holes there are in the police officer's shoes.

Part II: My name correlates with 106, which isn't prime. So far, from the 10 or so comments above mine, nobody's matches mine. But a couple came close.

  12. Part I. His realtionship with other human beings is not very good because he always would rather be alone then socialize with his peers. He always takes things literally and never understands other people's feelings. He descibes the scenarios with great detail,in which, the reader is able to make a mental picture of what Christopher is saying.

II. My first and last name add up to 155. It is not a prime number because 155 divided by 5 equals 31. Nobody has my number but I see a few people that are pretty close to it.

  13. Part I: These passages show that Christopher does not interact well at all with other people. He doesn't understand other people's emotions, so talking to them is sometimes confusing and he gets frustrated. He doesn't like people touching him, yelling at him, or many questions at once. It is easier for him to like dogs since they only have 4 emotions, and they never lie. What is surprising about the way he describes these things, is that he is fine with the idea of the world ending and he'd much rather be alone and never talk to anyone else.

Part II: My name adds up to 192. This is not a prime number but it is right inbetween the prime numbers 191 and 193. No one else's name has added up to this.

  14. Part 1: These passages explain that Christoper does not like to be with other people. He does not talk to people he does not know and he watched them and gets to know them before he starts to talk to them and be in the same room with him. He does not like when people touch him too. What is striking about the way he describes these scenarios is that he always wants to be alone and does not have a good or close relationship with other human beings.

Part 2: My first name middle name and last name collates to 203. My number is not a prime number because 7 times 29 equals 203. And no one has my number because only KYLE STEPHEN JONES had 203 and no one else will.

  15. Part I:
Christopher likes to be alone because when he is around other people, they tend to confuse him with expressions and mannerisms that most people understand, but he cannot. Because he doesn't understand emotions, he can't attach them to said expressions and mannerisms.
He feels comfortable and safe by himself and people he knows well.

    Part II:
My name adds up to 162, which is not a prime number, because it is even and is divisable by two. No one else has this number.

  16. Part 1: These passages explain how Christopher does not like to be around other people. Which is obvious, since everyone has felt the need to restate the question thus far... He doesnt like to be around them because he does not feel comfortable, as people tell lies, get angry and express emotions he does not understand. This makes him feel insecure.

Part 2: My name adds up to 131, and is a prime number. No one else has this number.

  17. part I: These passages tell us how christopher does not like to associate with people he doesnt know. he also doesnt like people touchimg him or hugging him. he has a good relationship with his dad because his dad understands him. something interesting about how Christopher describes these places is that he always seems to be alone and no one desturbing him.
part II: My name adds up to 115 and it is not a prime number. this number is divisible by several digits.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Part 1: These passages show that Christopher does not interact well people that he does not know. He does not understand other people's emotions, so talking to them is sometimes confusing. He doesn't like being touched by people, getting yelled at, or getting asked too many questions at once. Dogs are easier to like because they have 4 emotions. He really likes the fact that they don't lie. What is surprising about the way he describes these things, is that he does not care about the world ending. He likes to be alone, and actually prefers to be alone.

Part 2: My first and last name add up to 173. I t is a prime number, and no one else has my number.

  19. Christoper wasn't good being social. He also didn't like yellow cars. This shows me how he has to be organzation in picky. Also he kind of when crazy when the police officer when he keep asking him the same questions.

  20. I. Christopher is extremely anti-social. He evidently likes to be alone with himself, his thoughts, and the lovely things like math and science. I think he likes those things because they never change. People are confusing things, they change their minds all the time and are very fickle. I like to think of them as glass. Glass is a supercooled liquid, and not a solid, therefore its properties are much different than those of a liquid. Glass can be completely strong, and then one little tap may shatter it into little tiny pieces. The same goes for people. Numbers and scientific laws are always there. They never change, never. I agree with this logic. Never trust people too much; they may just break.

II. My number is 95. For the sake of concealment, I won't put the name it came from.

95 is not a prime number, as it easily seen to be divided by 5, along many other integers.

As far as I can see, no one seems to have the same number. I think it's special to me, then. How lovely.

  21. Part I- The passage tells us that Christopher does not communicate well with others. He perfers to be alone with him and his pet rat. He would well rather have no other human beings with him or near him. He hates how people show mixed emotions and he cannot read what they are feeling unlike dogs. Thats why Christopher loves dogs and dislikes peoples so much.

Part II- All the letters added up to my name is 97. I believe that 97 is a prime number. Nobody else has this number so far besides me.

  22. Part 1: The passages show that Christopher doesn't really like to be around people much, because their behavior confuses him, since he doesn't understand emotions and such.
Part 2: My name adds up to be 126 things, which is not a prime number. And no one so far has the same number as me(:

    ReplyDelete
  23. Part 1: The passages show that Christopher is not a social person because he just keeps mentioning the idea of being alone. He himself says it in the story that he doesn't like to be touched. He also said that it takes him sometime to get to know a new person. One of the reasons for this is because he sees the world differently, he just sees things as one way or the other way not in between. People have all of these emotions that Christopher does not understand, that's why he likes dogs who don't have many emotions. He describes these scenarios as if he is always alone and he seems to be ok with it.
Part 2: My name adds up to 120, which is not a prime number. So far nobody had the same number.

  24. Part 1: Christopher is not fond of being around other people and if he could choose to not have to be he would not. He has no choice though so all he can do is wish. All of the above things are stating how Christopher would situate his life becuase they all involve not being with people. The scenario about the universe is straight on and he knows the world will collapse. He also dreams big and wants to become a astronaut which is different too.

Part II: My name (Breeanna Bacchus) correlates with the number 117 and this is a prime number.

Part 2: My name adds up to be 107 which is a prime number and no one yet has had the same number

  26. Part 1: It would appear as though Christopher doesn't want people, as a race, necessarily, to even exist. He would be entirely contempt if everyone was simply eradicated from the face of the earth. To an extent, he would much rather be alone than within the vicinity of another human; perhaps with the exception of his fellow brethren who live with the same limits as him. This could explain the idea that he is much more secure about dogs; they comfort him much more than humans, mostly because he relates to them so much more. They've only four emotions/moods, (as he calls them) happy, sad, cross, and concentrated. He is so much more similar to this than the myriad of emotions with which humans communicate.

Part 2: My name correlates with the number 118. Though I am approximately the 24th person to comment on this blog, it would appear that there has yet to be another individual with the same number as my own. Just as well, seeing as the number is divisible by two, it is not a prime number.

  27. The pages spoke Christoper's feelings of insecurity around other people, as he was unable to understand and interpret their actions and emotions. He liked to be alone because he was the only person who he understood, and who understood him.

And my number just so happens to be 222. It's not prime, but it's pretty darn awesome all the same, even if no one else has it:)

  28. It shows that Christopher is lacking socially. He doesnt have very many friends except for his pet rat. He doesnt enjoy being around other people because his autism makes him not able to understand emotions of other people.

My first and last name equaled to 139, which is a prime number.

  29. Part 1: Christopher does not know how to socialize and he likes to be left alone. He wouldnt even mind being in space alone, but would like feel like he is the only person on earth. When he tells his senerios he is exact on what would happen and why he would be a good astronot. He explains in great detail everything.

Part 2: My number is 111. So far no one else has that number. Also it is not a prime number.

  30. Christopher's relationship with human beings besides those he care is just dead. What's about it is that Chris thinks the future is going to have no human life at all which seems a bit broad because we don't know if we are going to be gone. Even the smartest may have some flaws. My name is 110 it is not a prime number because it can be divided by 5 and it would be 22. Can be divided by 2 and it would be 55.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I meant what's surprising about the passage is that his prediction is that the future is going to have no life on Earth.

  32. Part 1: In the passages, Christopher tells us that he would be perfectly fine if everyone on earth just randomly disappeared. He obviously doesn't like humans because their sooo hard to read. They have to many emotions for Christopher to comprehend. In my opinion that's why Christopher likes dogs so much. Because they only really have four emotions: Happy, sad, cross, and concentrating.

Part 2: My first and last name add up to the number 124. Therefore my name is not a prime number. Kind of upsetting I think, haha. No one else has had that number yet, which makes me feel kind of special! Haha(:

    ReplyDelete
  33. Part 1: Christopher's relationship with other humans is awful and crummy. His ability to socialize with other human beings is horrible because they use too many emotions and expressions for him and makes it extremely difficult for him to comprehend. Humans also lie and he hates lying. Because of this he likes dogs better than humans because they don't lie and they only have four emotions: happy, sad, cross, and concentrated. The striking thing about how he decribes these senarios is that he couldn't care less if everyone just fell off the earth.

Part 2: My name in numbers is 159 (first and last name). My name isn't prime because you can divide it by 3 and get 53. No one matches me after having 32 people blog before me. Makes me different.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My view of Christopher's prediction is similar to many of these other posts his attitude towards others drives him to dream of a world where no one will be around, and to dwell in the void of space having little or no contact with the human race, To Joseph N4's statement on the dissapearance of mankind, it will be in billions of years that the universe's implosion (which has been replaced by its expanding forever theory recently) and humankind will have evolved itself into non existence or be extinct. If we have not gone extinct by that time then we will have become some form of beings different from ourselves today.
My number is 125 and is not a prime number, its close to some peoples but not the same.

  35. Chris wants to be alone, and does not like people touching him

my number is 93 and is not prime

  36. It shows that Christopher seeks safety in solitude. He dislikes people touching him or asking him to many questions. He says he wanted to be in space or there be no other humans so he doesnt not connect well at all socially.
My name equals 105 which is not a prime number

    ReplyDelete
  37. Part 1-
This shows that Christopher's life involving other people is not the way it is with others and he has a hard time relating to other people. His imagining of being alone in space or the world coming to an end shows that people and Christopher have a hard time working together most people wouldn't think about those things and would not like to be alone in space or for the world to end.

    Part 2-
My full name adds up to 166 and that is divisible by two so it is not a prime number.

  38. Part I: The passages show that Christopher isn't social at all and would like to be alone all the time. The example of him going to space alone shows that he wants to alone almost all the time. What is striking about how he describes these scenarios is that he takes it to the extreme with being alone and how he doesn't really mind if the world blows up or if he is sent alone to space.

Part II: My name equals 103. My name matches with Danita. Yes it is a prime number.

  39. Part I: Christopher has a really hard time socially interacting with the world and fellow people. For example he hates strangers, hugs, people touching him, and stuff like that. These passages show he would rather be all alone, then with people.

Part II: My name adds up to 73. It doesn't match up with anyone elses. It's a prime number.

  40. Part I: I think it says that he's not good at being very social person, and he doesn't like people.

  41. Part 1.
These passages explain to the reader that Christopher does not have a very good relationishiop with other humans and is not very social. It seems that he likes to spend time alone but does not mind spending time with his dad or sometimes Siobhan. Also, I think that Christopher does not like when there are too many people around him because he is afraid of more than one person talking to him at a time and it would be too much for his brain to handle.

    Part 2.
My number is 161. I think it is prime? And no one else has my number yet!(:

  42. Part 1. The passages show the reader what kind of thoughts go through his head, and how they are so much more different than ours. And that a person without autism would probably not think of a world with out people, but christopher just imagines things that to ours are totally crazy. When he talks about being an astronaut, and how when he was in space he would have to be all alone in his space he wouldnt want to share it with anyone else. Most people would be scared to go in outer space alone, but it just shows his lack of social skills and bonding with other people, and that he prefers machines and outer space.

Part 2. (my first middle and last name) add up to 364. No one else had that number. No my number is not prime.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Part 1: The passage in the book shows that Christopher would obviously rather be alone than with groups of people and wouldn't mind having contact with any human beings for a period of time. When he describes the scenarios he gives vivid, specific detail and puts a picture in your head of the scenes he states.
Part 2: My first name equals up to a prime number. Which is 51. And I don't think anyone else had that number on here. So, mehh.

  48. part 1. These passages show that
Christopher has a hard time dealing with social interactions and prefers to be alone. He finds people confusing and states he would rather have a world with only dogs because there four emotions are easier to read. This is shocking because he so strongly dislikes dealing with people that he would rather be completely isolated or only live with dogs, something most people would utterly hate

  51. Part 1

I think these passages show how christopher has difficulties communicating with other people and how he would rather be alone. He also said he would love to live in a world with just dogs because they only have four emotions and people have so many and they confuse him. I find that odd since most people would like to be able to have conversations with people and he just wants to be alone and live a simple life.

My name has 87 numbers in it and it is a prime number. Also no one that i saw had my number either.

He cant carry on normal conversations but he is very smart.

  64. Part I: The way he describes these scenarios show that he dislikes human contact. By saying that he wishes he was alone in space and alone in the world with people that are alike him shows that his mind doesn't like the interactions between humans. This probably suggest that his minds is very simple and complications confuse him. Also by saying that he wishes that everybody but people like him die shows that he has lack of emotions.
Part II: My name correlates to 88 which is composite number. This is because it is an even number.

  66. Question 1)
Well, for one he is completely content with being along, almost happy at the idea. He understands that it's hard on people to be around him. What I always notice whenever he describes these types of things, is that there is no feeling behind it. Everything becomes scientific. Although that's understandable. He feels safe with facts.

  80. 1. Christopher has a hard time understanding emotions, and has a hard time compating with others(don't think i spelled it right like "compatable"-compating)which is a big part of everyones life, so he would rather be alone than communicate with people because its hard for him.

  82. 1.This chapter portrays Christopher as a very insociable person, seeing as how he donen't want to be around other people. I believe that he is afraid of stepping out of his "comfot zone" and interacting with other people. He just doesn't feel safe around strangers.

    2. Amber Shirvonne Robinson= 269 which is a prime number.

  83. PART I: Christopher obviously doesn't like other human beings. He wants to be alone all the time. This means that it is almost impossible to have a relationship with anybody not even his family. He cannot wait for the world to end. It shocks me that he cant hug anybody nor get touched by anybody.

PART II: My name does not equal a prime number.....

    ReplyDelete
  84. PartI: What this says about his relationships with humans is that him and humans do not have a good connection. Mainly becuase he does not like talking to strangers and holding a conversation. His good relationships are mainly between his dad, and sinobin. Whats striking about how he describes these sinarios is how deep into thought he gets. Such as how he wants to be an astronaut so he can go up into space alone with no one else.

    PartII: My number is 102. It is not a prime number because 51 x 2 = 102

  85. Part1. I find it remarkable how Christopher can view a world with no one but himself. It reflects how he does not have a strong trust for others and how he does not metion anything of his family and if they would be there with him. I think it is sad though how he never feels relaxed around others, because he hates being in contact with others.

Part2. My number adds up to 165 which is not prime because 3x55=165 =P.

  86. the fact that christopher would to live in a world alone is absolutely ridiculous. if no one else existed then there would be no point of him existing either. so this says that he'd rather be alone his whole or just not exist at all. my name would be 222 which i find quite nice because i personally like even numbers which can never be prime.

    ReplyDelete

  89. part 1 shows that christopher is very unaware of how to comprehend with other people there for he wants to avoid it at any means neccasary and the one way he knows how is by complete solitude the whats striking to me is that he goes over it in his head and if you think about there's not much flaw in his plans
